The Aurea Norte Project (highlighted below in darker blue) consists of nine contiguous and 100% owned claims totaling 59,637.17 hectares. The project covers the northwest extension of the Guerrero Gold Belt and is contiguous with the Aurea Sur Project to the south. The project lies on the previously untested northwest extension along a trend of gold deposits discovered within the GGB. The gold inventory in these deposits now exceeds 12 million ounces and occurs in the same geological and mineralizing environment as observed at Aurea Norte.

Exploration on Aurea Norte began in 2004/5 with a small program of detailed mapping and grid sampling over a large exposure of jasperoid outcroppings in what came to be called the San Luis and Rey David showings. That program returned significantly anomalous assays with the best chip sample from the San Luis showing returning 8.05 gm/ton gold from a jasperoid breccia.
Exploration has confirmed a geologic setting analogous to the geology of the Bermejal, Nukay, and Filos deposits, the pioneer discoveries of the GGB.
Newstrike is committed to exploration and discovery on their GGB projects. While exploration is still in the early stages on this project, Newstrike technical staff is encouraged by the preliminary results and plans are underway to advance this project to the discovery stage.
