Newstrike is a gold-silver focused exploration and development company, targeting known and historic mining districts in Mexico.
Newstrike holds the largest and most strategic mineral claims in the Guerrero Gold Belt ("GBB"). The GGB 's gold bearing iron skarn-porphyry mineralizing system is host to one of Mexico's most established gold mining districts. To date, the GGB has over 15 million NI43-101 ounces of gold in all categories, including Goldcorp's 300,000 ounces per year Los Filos deposit and Torex Resources' Morelos Project, a high grade 3.2 million ounces of gold deposit. Newstrike's management team was responsible for the discovery of over eight million of these gold ounces.
In June 2010, Newstrike and Desarrollos Mineros San Luis, S.A. de C.V., a wholly-owned subsidiary company of Goldcorp Inc., entered into an agreement for Newstrike to acquire 100% of the "Ana Paula Project".
We are focused on Ana Paula which is an advanced exploration stage gold project located within the producing gold mining camp of the Guerrero Gold Belt.
Acquired from Goldcorp Inc., the Ana Paula Project consists of two contiguous and two discrete concessions covering 7,622 hectares that are internal to Newstrike's existing 81,420.93 hectare land position located within the GGB.
Commencing in 2004, Goldcorp conducted exploration programs on Ana Paula including geophysics, mapping and geochemistry. These efforts resulted in the discovery of a 1.0 kilometre by 2.0 kilometre wide area of gold mineralization at surface, located in a geological setting typical of other known GGB deposits.
A portion of this large mineralized area was drill tested in 2005 with a 3,689 meter, 11-hole diamond drill program that has confirmed the gold mineralization potential of the area.
Newstrike has recently commenced its drilling program at the Ana Paula. This follows the signing of ten-year surface access agreements with the local community; an important step in advancing Ana Paula towards feasibility and development.
The scope of the drill program provides for a minimum 5,000 meters within a mineralized area previously drill tested by Goldcorp in 2005. This initial drill program is the first step in testing the 2km by 1km wide area that remains open along a northeasterly strike and at depth. The program is designed to delineate and extend the known mineralization, as recommended in the NI-43-101 technical report dated June 26th, 2010 by Mr. Robert Lunceford, CPG, MSc.
